Live hardware · Montréal
Parts Project is a live hardware act exploring sound system culture, techno and breakbeat — an arsenal of samplers, drum machines and loopers pushed into raw, driving and undeniably human dance floor experiences.
Structures are orchestrated in real time, pads and parameters riffed over a pulsing rhythmic bedrock. Nothing is pre-rendered. The set changes with the room.
Originally from Winnipeg, he performed on stage in many forms — theatre, live bands — until the sounds of underground electronic music beeped the radar in 1999. Heavily motivated by drum & bass, he bought turntables a few years later and started a long walk down the back alleys of bass music, which brought him to Montréal in 2012. After fifteen years of DJing and producing, a decision in 2019 to switch to a live, machine-based performance and production concept brought Parts Project into being.
He has since released on Montréal labels audio bambino and Conscious Wave, Toronto's Juncture Music, Sherbrooke's DRT Cake, west coast imprints Really Good Recordings and Woodwork Recordings, and France's Bait — alongside a solid body of independently released work.
Parts Project runs out of Montréal, always working on the next release and cultivating a constantly changing, constantly evolving live set.
